Mandrillus sphinx “Growing Refelction”

DSC_0029

This drawing is finally completed. On Monday is when all of the coloring was finished. Just had many other things going on and couldn’t post until today.

Like I always say there’s no reason to rush the process unless you are rushing yourself. All you have to do is breath and take it easy, everything will follow through just be patient.

Today I’ve sprayed the drawing and took a picture as well. The picture you see now.

All of these little processes combine into this bigger picture. In the end, creating all the hocus pocus/art we conclude to seeing in this final image.

This is a drawing of a “Mandrillus sphinx.”

I call this “self-reflection.” Don’t normally have much of a story to share behind most of my pieces. There’s more of an emotion, similar to strings being played on a guitar.

I’ll share a little bit of what I’m thinking on this one.

The story of this piece of art can resemble a reflection of what has all happened in the past year or so.

It has been about 1 year since the first drawing I posted/created. To begin my journey of becoming an “artist.”

I checked the date of the first drawing I made when I started my journey. It was the 14th so in 6 more days.

If you have been following, I’ve had this blog for about a year now. It’s been a very fast year. I remember drawing the horse like it was yesterday.

The first drawing happened to “break the ice” that’s a good term I can think of.

I faced many fears and let go, just to create art and not worry about the end result. But care more about the process. Don’t have fear when I place the pencil on the paper.

Challenge the reflection I see and show what I’m worthy of. Instead of giving up in fear and turning the opposite direction, running away from the problem instead of facing it. Causing more problems in the long run than “fixes.”

My goal in art is to feel a nirvana for art and believe anything is possible. To create art and believe I won’t make “bad art.” Your mind messes with you telling you what is correct or not correct. Either way could be correct. Art is an example of that analogy.

Nothing is bad art it’s just the way you interpret each piece of art. People give me all different thoughts towards my art. You need this to grow as an artist. I never know what to think about my art or myself, I just do these things to do them. In the end, I’m all of what I do and create, so are you. Be original and have faith in yourself as a person. Don’t give up on yourself, there’s never a reason to be found.

The more I progress the more I improve artistically in all areas and aspects. There are just times my mind overtakes me and tells me to give up. Usually, in the end, I don’t give up became art is the only thing I have. If I give up on art, I would have nothing in a way.

All I’m focusing on is being happy. Art adds to the happiness, it’s something that I can do that I enjoy.

Without art, I would be lost in this world. I would have no direction or idea where to go.

Instead of harming myself or hurting others I use art to release my negative energy.

Each sketch or line is the structure of what I feel. I don’t know why I create a certain shape or line, it’s all just in the moment of what my emotions tell me.

Same with the color it’s all in the moments and ideas within the brain. A manifestation of creative ideas applied on paper.

To be creative you have to enter the subconscious mind. It’s quite easy for me to do that. Art helps me express my crazy subconscious thoughts. I feel as if I’m living in another world compared to most. The mind of “artists” are quite crazy, or maybe it’s me just saying that having an opinion. Who knows.

It’s all about the focus and control of your energy if you’re delicate with your energy you can accomplish whatever you desire.

So I guess to simplify what I just said, everything you see in this image is a reflection of myself. Being who I’m today. In the end, it’s best to turn the negative into the positive.

Everything you wish for is within your hands, it’s just most give up and don’t see what they’re capable of. Remember to not give up on yourself.

This is a reflection of “thyself.” Being me in the end. All of the good and bad put together into one image.

We all will have crazy lives, that’s just how the universe plays its games. The way you respond to the situation will create the outcome of the moment.

All of my emotions are put in my pieces of art. This one can show what I feel within this year. This is what I look like.

This image may be horrifying or beautiful to you, either or would work in my eyes. Honestly, it’s a bit scary looking, but very pleasant at the same time.

I guess it will just be the way you interpret the image yourself.

This is a drawing of a “Mandrillus Sphinx.”

To me this animal is a beautiful animal, I would love to be one for a few days. Hahahahah.

The face is a beautiful color. This animal would be interesting to encounter, but there’s no need to bother them.

Enjoy the drawing as you please, thank you for viewing this piece of art.

Have a great day everyone! πŸ™‚

I appreciate everyone who observes my pieces of art and reads everything.

Much love ❀

    • Great to hear that! Always type these blogs up in the moment.

It’s quite hard to think ahead of time, the imagination work better when things flow out. Not being forced.

Happy to know you enjoy my thoughts and opinions! πŸ™‚

I totally understand what you’re saying man. Never really thought about that till you mentioned that now.

Had the concept in my mind, but you reminded me. That just shows your loyalty towards my work.

      Appreciate the love, hahaha. πŸ™‚

Awsome! Good thing we ran into each other, hahaha.

Yes lots and lots of mental work, hahaha. Brain hurts after each piece in a way.

    • Many people compare my art to stained glass.

I’d agree with you, if I could ever get materials to produce stained glass I would at least attempt hahaha.

Like the way you describe the image you see. Golden tinfoil is the first I understand what you’re saying.

Technically I could try to do that hahah, would be a mess but fun.

My main focus is to make you strain your eyes and make you look all over. To make it hard to focus on one area hahaha.

Yes a kaleidoscope, those are beautiful images. I can understand what you’re saying here to.

      Thank you! πŸ™‚

Appreciate all these thoughts I really do.

      Have a great Saturday! πŸ˜€

  1. Yes well… *ahem*… so I’ve just learned that mandrills are no longer classed in the baboon family – so I wasn’t that far off ;P A beautiful piece and you have a heck of an eye Brandon! Really impressive! I can totally see some of these as huge mural installations, in really trendy bars, or in classy international airport terminals – places where millions of eyes will wash over them every day!

Yes I learned that as well in the process of making this hahahah.

True you weren’t that off hahaha. πŸ˜€

Thank you! Happy to know you think these things towards my art. πŸ™‚

That would be a dream, hahaha. One day something like that will happen.

Will need to close my eyes and manifest those words hahah, maybe you’re telling the future. πŸ˜‰

No reason to give up, need to keep on positive mind set.

Thank you for these words! Appreciate it.

  2. I love those golden colors. He looks like he is deep in thought, perhaps thinking of something serious.
I saw a painting online recently called, “Truth Climbing Out of Her Well to Shame Mankind,” that really spoke to me. It was a serious painting. She had a look of horror because she sees all the lies that are in the world.

Yes, hahaha. It’s the interpretation of me in a way. I would look like him, hahaha. πŸ˜€

Interesting story, the title of the artwork relates to the meaning of the painting.

For me, I can always make up an interpretation for pieces of art. Even if they make no sense.

Art doesn’t have to make sense hahah, all you have to do it create it.

      • When I took Creative Writing at university, I noticed my stories were based on my childhood. I kept writing about what was most serious in my heart. I didn’t plan it that way, I just felt I had to write these things. I noticed when my mother wrote fiction, her main character said and did things I knew my mom wanted to say and do. She didn’t even realize it.

When I paint or make something with wood, I see why I did what I did. Not always before I started, but later. Many of my first woodwork pieces were homes. I’ve always had a love or deep desire to have a loving home. The women in my paintings represent me. I’m sure your work does represent many parts of you.

      • I can understand why, usually in art you use your own experiences.

You were getting all the emotions out and it kinda all just “happened.”

Always tell people your life should just happen, if you understand.

Hahaha that’s funny, you both think alike. Mother like daughter. It all just “happens” the true beauty of art.

It takes time to process things and realize them. See you were literally expressing the feelings from within creating them into this reality.

Yes, it does. All the energy is throw onto a blank sheet or canvas.

Glad to know that as well. I attempt my best with the words and images.

Yes, exactly. I agree with the writing. Technically you could add to a paragraph non stop. You’ll have to stop yourself or it never stops.

All forms of art in the end.

Hahahahaha! Yes, continue being the person you’re deep within.

    • This will make no sense to you at all but I’ll explain.

All I’m doing is being me. Everything happens on accident or in the moment. I’m doing nothing but being myself.

I don’t intent to do any of this. It just happens in each moment as the next moment comes.

There’s nothing special about me. We’re all the same or you can say “one.” At the end of the day.

      I appreciate your comment! πŸ™‚

      Have a great weekend.

  7. Phenomenal work! Have you thought of/done a gallery showing? I know that it takes nerve to try it out but, I really think that your art should be shown even more in person. Your explanations are quite in-depth so, putting together an “artist’s statement” that goes with it all, will be no problem for you, I’m sure. These are a lot of work it seems. I hope you use it.

I guess I have. Don’t really live in that big of a city. Probably could just ask some coffee shops or something. I don’t even drink coffee myself, hahaha.

      I see what you’re saying.

I like it but then I don’t. Mixed feelings. Eventually it will have to happen in the future.

Yes, I attempt to not think about anything and just let go and let it all happen. If you’re anxious making art it’s nothing like all the other jobs out there.

Art comes from within and it shouldn’t be rushed.

      Yes I see it.

I’m so used to my work I don’t know what to ever think about it. All I attempt to do is create at peace and don’t rush anything. See what the results are in the end. You can’t stress art.

There’s no reason for any of this in the end, hahaha.

I don’t even know what I’m doing at the end of the day but I just continue on doing what I’m doing.

      Thank you for the comment!

      Have a great weekend. πŸ™‚

      • I also do art work and know, as you’ve so wisely said, that it can’t be rushed. It’s a go-at-your-own-pace type of skill.

Just to let you know….every artist is critical of their own work. Even musicians. You wouldn’t believe though what sells in gallery showings. It’s amazing! Put a cheap, plain black frame around your work and ask someone to hang it for you in coffee shops and just see what happens. You’d be surprised. πŸ™‚

My daughter studied art in an art and design university. She got a degree in the arts. Would you believe that she said that she quickly found out that 3/4’s of art is “bull”? It’s more how the artist can talk about their work (the artist statement). I know that it’s hard to let go of pieces but, you can also get prints made of them and sell them quite cheaply online. At the least, it would keep your supplies monies going. πŸ™‚

Anyways, you have to be comfortable in trying it. You have a lot of positive encouragement from a lot of us here so, why not try? What have you got to lose? Plus, at minimum, you have more money for materials! Who knows where this can take you?

By the way, I’ve seen a chair…a plain white wooden chair, nailed to a wall with a crumpled piece of paper glued onto the seat and it was called an “installation piece” that brought in thousands of not only viewers but, $$$$$$s too. The artist was good at “bull” LOL

        Best of wishes!

      • Very true, hahaha! πŸ™‚

I can agree with that. I’m never really “happy” with my art but instead “satisfied.” Sometimes enough has to be enough and the piece is over.

I appreciate this advice and message. πŸ™‚

I could imagine the story being worth more compared to the actual piece.

I’m in the process of getting prints made. Not sure exactly when I’ll be completed with this. Step by step.

True. There’s nothing to loose more experience is appreciated. Anything is possible.

I totally understand, hahaha. πŸ™‚ Art can be anything. I love the name by the way.

Very creative. Think outside the box, hahaha.

        Thank you!:)
